Recount Writing Checklist

Does your introduction answer who, what, when and where?
Does the introduction let the reader know what the story is about?
Are the recount events in chronological order?
Does each event have a new paragraph?
Does each event have supporting details?
Does your recount use the first (I, we, me ) or third person (she, he, they) to tell the story?
Do you write about the most interesting parts to entertain the reader?
Do you use various connective words? (Meanwhile, afterwards, after then, a few hours later, finally…)
Does your conclusion link back to the introduction?
Do you end with a personal reflection or feeling about the recount?
A recount is written in the past tense as it has happened.
A recount describes what and when an event occurred.
Connective words are used to help sequence the story. (meanwhile, subsequently, after that…)
A recount can be factual OR imaginative.
