The acronym for SMART goals means that a goal must be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. When setting goals, it's important to use the SMART goal strategies. If your goals aren't timely, specific, attainable, specific and realistic, chances are that you won't attain them. Think about weight loss for instance: How many Pounds? (Specific) How will you know when you reached your goal? (Measurable) Is your goal within reason for YOU? (Attainable) Is the goal realistic for you? (Realistic) When will you realize your goal?
